It is fair to say that the main people affected by construction here would be residents of Hillside View and Greenlands Road.
However the scheme will affect everyone who lives and works in Peasedown St John. The amount of groundworks required to build in this steeply sloping site will result in removal of around 1,500 cubic metres of spoil, which will necessitate up to 250 HGV movements off site. The only way to and from site for vehicles this large will be up Bath Road, from the bypass, and passing the school.
These broadly are the main issues and concerns raised by residents and Parish Councillors
Elevations between new housing and Hillside View – the difference in height will affect light, outlook and privacy.
Water draining and flooding issues in Keel’s Hill and the lower rank of Hillside View
Existing village infrastructure is at capacity. Local services are already struggling
Risk to structure of Hillside View properties nearest the development. In particular, subsidence between the field and Hillside View. (The boundary wall is already moving).
Additional cars will park on Greenlands Road, despite proposed parking at rear of properties.
Construction site traffic and safety – especially for children going to and from school. Site traffic will enter the village from the south end and pass the school.
